It is with sadness that we learned of the death of Rev Donald Campbell on Monday 9th January 2023. Donnie had been our locum minister for the last 3 years, working alongside Ian Miller, our interim Moderator. His funeral service will take place on friday 27th January at 11am in Houston & Killellan Parish Church, his last charge. We gather at Lomond Church from 10:30am to view the live stream of the service. His committal service will take place at Cardross Crematorium at 1:15pm. It was with great sadness that we heard of the passing of Dr Iain Galbraith on December 20th December 2021. Iain has been our organist and a member of the Kirk Session for many years, and will be sorely missed by his many friends in the Vale of Leven and across Scotland. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sheila, our Choir Leader and Church Elder, at this time.

Respecting Iain’s wishes, a private funeral service has already taken place, and there will be a Service of Thanksgiving for his life on Monday 10th January at 2pm in the church. We will stream this service on our YouTube channel Lomond Parish Church from 1:55pm. Please use link below.

If you wish to attend the service in person, following Church of Scotland guidance, we ask that you complete a lateral flow test before you arrive. Face masks must be worn at all times and the rows of seats are spaced 1m apart. Around 150 people can be seated in the church, and we can relay the service to our halls if necessary. Our car park only has space for 40 cars, so if it is full, please use local on street parking or Lomond Shores car park.

All churches in Scotland have closed in support of Governments response to Covid 19 pandemic. Prayer remains the primary response for Christians across the world. We’d a great night on Friday 5th Jan with 85 people attending our 12th night Burns Supper. David McDonald had arranged a superb programme with our own Malcolm Gilmour piping in the Haggis before David addressed it. Fergus Mclellan gave the immortal memory, followed by glorious rendition of Tam a Shanter by  Walter Sneddon.  David McDonald performed his  own variation of Willie Wassel.  John McKenzie proposed a hilarious toast to the lassies and which was well rebutted by his wife, Dorcas.

Rev Liz did an excellent job in chairing the proceeding  with some eloquent rhyming couplet introductions. The church choir provided musical interludes and we were grateful to the mission and outreach team for doing all the preparation in the background. Wizgonis supplied an excellent meal
